Victory Day is a common name of many different public holidays in various countries to commemorate victories in important battles or wars in the countries’ history.
1 April 30 in Vietnam, 2 May 8 in Europe, 3 May 9 in Russia and countries of post-Soviet space, 4 June 23 in Estonia, 5 August 5 in Croatia, 6 August 30 in Turkey, 7 September 8 in Malta, 8 December 16 in Bangladesh, 9 September 7 in Mozambique
There are also Victory Days in Egypt in October, commemorating the Yom Kippur War, and in December 23, commemorating the Suez Crisis, and in Angola on March 27. France celebrates it on May 8, to commemorate the German surrender in 1945 (Russia celebrates this on May 9). Italy celebrates Victory Day on November 4, commemorating victory over Austria-Hungary in World War I. India celebrates Victory Day, Vijay Diwas, on December 16 to mark the Indian victory in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, while Bangladesh also celebrates the December 16th as Victory Day, to mark, the Pakistani Army surrender to the Indo-Bangladeshi High Command in Dhaka at the end of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
